I decided to take in a cooking demo while on a recent visit and after viewing a few websites settled on cooking cajun. On arrival you can look around the shop before taking a seat in a room off the store. The cooking area is shown in mirrors on the ceiling so everyone can get a decent view. The classes are not large, about 15 people when I was there. We were given some appetisers to try and then the cooking demo started. We were shown chicken ettoufee which was then passed around to sample and also a prawn gumbo. We were shown how to make a decent roux. Finally praline deserts were made and we were also passed around samples of these. At the end of the demo, we were given the opportunity to buy some of the ingredients and tools in the adjoining store and given a discount. I bought a cookbook and roux spoon. Would definitely return again just to try some of the yummy meals they create!
